CD Burning Problem

I'm having a bit of trouble burning CD's on SuSE 9.1. Whenever I try to burn a CD via k3b or cdrecord it starts off fine but the mouse lags a bit, then my system grinds to a complete halt and I'm forced to hard shutdown the computer. I've wasted about 10 CD-R's already testing changes I've made to this problem and I'm going to go back to Gentoo if I can't get this fixed. Someone said that I should enable DMA on the CD drive and in YaST it has: * DMA Off * DMA On (default) * DMA/16 * UltraDMA/16 * UltraDMA/33 The thing is though, I've tried all these settings and none have made a difference. Can anyone think what else could be causing this? EDIT: I only seem to have problems burning audio discs, data discs work fine. [Edited by - template on August 8, 2004 4:01:06 PM]
Try messing around with some kernel options and see if that helps. Maybe SuSE isn't loading the correct modules or something.
