What are the complete list of Librarys that have the name open.. I believe that they are not joint any way except by the name... I know there is an: OpenGL (Graphics Library) OpenAL (Audio Library) next we just need the: OpenIL (Input Library) OpenNL (Network Library) & we have a competitor to DirectX Are there any more that I''ve missed that already exist? While we''re at it, why don''t we have an OpenNL (Nurb Library) so that we can spend time learning that on someone else''s website so that NeHe doesn''t have to exhaust himself learning it and trying to make an understandable doc out of it. Let someone else do the dirty work, I want my curves.

OpenNL, a game-oriented network library already exists

It seems to be designed to be a direct competitor to DirectPlay, and the team are planning voice support, which should be in DirectX 8

OpenIL also exists, the Open Image Library
http://openil.sourceforge.net/index.html

It is a library to load/save/process images.


Both libraries have a simple, but powerful API, using an OpenGL-like syntax.

An alternative to DirectX is getting much, much closer

One of the best library that i see.

OpenML (model library) would be a good idea, to import vertex/polygon data

I''m (slowly) working on a library to load/save images, animations, models and sound samples. It''s not called OpenFL (Open File Library) though, just Titan

You can expect the first release in a few weeks. I''ll announce it in this forum.
