What are those environmental percussion sounds called? You know, the kind that sound like hitting metal, those ambient sounds? [Edited by - Drakkcon on August 4, 2004 6:45:15 PM]
There is no one name for them. In my sample library, they're usually referred to in banks, like 'misc samples', 'garage samples', 'industrial samples', and so forth.

Would I be able to get your sample library? Or is it for your personal use.
Thanks for telling me that. You saved me alot of trouble... I wish I had them as .wav samples for MIDI tones, but I'm saving up for Reason anyway. Thanks again.

By the way, would reason have those instruments. And if I use reason, can I export to digital sound?

Huh? All sound is digital if you're manipulating them on your computer. Reason lets you export to WAV or AIFF.

And my sample library isn't completely uploaded, but you can find about 1500 percussive samples at www.soundtempest.net, in the resources section. Hammersound.net also has a wealth of sounds that I've grabbed.

Reason licence says you can't export the original samples for use outside Reason.

That's a misinterpretation. They mean that you cannot take the included samples and kits and sell them or mark them as your own. However, you ARE licensed to use them in any work of yours, royalty-free, without giving them any credit. That goes for ANY sequencing software I've ever heard of.

Really? Hrrmmn, I'd have to check the licence agreement.

The other thing is, you'll have to export them all by hand (unless there's some reason-sample-extraction software I don't know about).
Pain in the ass to get at the licence agreement. I couldn't find it in any documentation, had to string-scan the install package. Anyway, the relevent section (1c):

Quote: The sound samples and musical examples connected to the Software can NOT be reformatted, nor mixed, filtered, re-synthesized, or otherwise edited or altered for use in any kind of commercial sampling product/package or software - this is strictly prohibited without the express written consent of Propellerhead Software.

I'd suggest that you're right, and you can do whatever you want with them as long as you don't sell them as samples.
