fglrxinfo/glxinfo hangs!

Hi guys, its me (again, sorry for all these Linux problems, I'm such a newb at troubleshooting).. I just installed my fglrx drivers for my 9200SE, and before I had this problem of having left over nVidia drivers, which converted my X.org to run on their libGL drivers. So I somehow got rid of all all trace of nVidia, and I seemingly installed ATI's fglrx 3.9.0 drivers successfully. However, whenever I try to run fglrxinfo, it doesn't return - it just freezes. glxinfo does the same, so I decided to try to debug it to see what's wrong. I checked out Mesa's implementation of glxinfo (I'm pretty sure its the same) It turns out that glxinfo stops at the function glXChooseVisual....I'm betting fglrxinfo stops at the same function (or equivalent) top. Does anybody have any idea why glXChooseVisual would freeze? I looked in my XFree86 log and DRI/Fglrx seem to be up and running ok:

It seems you're using XOrg; if I remember correctly ATI does not officially support XOrg yet. Perhaps this thread on Rage3D will help you.

I can't say I've tried it, still using XFree86 4.3 here.
