The next release of Blender will have some great additions. Here are some that I've read about: --Animated hair. I love this one!!! --UV unwrapping can be done using LSCM....which will make it much easier. --New particle system tools include deflection and force fields, allowing for some cool effects, check out this little video and imagine the possibilities! --Wipe effects for the video sequencer. --Ramp shading. --Weighted subsurf creases. I've been waiting and waiting for this. --The return of the stand alone game player. And it should all be here around the first week of August.
I'll update the 3D Software list with a notification of the new release when it happens.

Have they fixed the god-awful interface yet?

Truly.

I'm way excited about the UV unwrapping using least squares. I struggle like hell with that. I've been waiting for Blender's UV unwrapping tools to finally rival some of the plug-ins you can get for other apps.

It is much more pretty since version 231. I'm not sure but they were even trying to make it skinable.

Great, so with skinning we get different styles of crap UI. I don't give a crap how ugly (or not) it looks, but blender's UI is just so damn inconsistant its painful to use. Not just the widgets themself but the usage and the placement of all the controls.

Well, I guess that's a matter of taste. I use Blender, and I feel pretty comfortable it's controls.

Besides, in linux, there is no other app better, yet.
