Suse Linux install problem

I am trying to have a dual boot system, with Win2K and Suse 9.0. I took disk 1 and inserted it, and it ran the setup and got to Yast. It got to my keyboard/language settings in step 1. Then in step 2 it tries to detect some settings (you know.. mode, boot, partitions, software, etc) Everything auto-detects fine, except software. For that it says: "No software packages detected. Source: bad media? Error: No proposal." Or something similar. If I click change it lists nothing under software, and everything appears blank. My "media" can't be bad. The CD is fine. It installed up to that point. I don't understand. Could someone help me get Suse up and running. Thanks for any help.
I am not worthy of a sig! ;)
Did you look on the CD to see whether the software is actually there in an uncorrupted form? Otherwise, you can try installing from SuSE's ftp servers (if you have a fast internet connection).

Did you make sure the *.iso files were ok when you downloaded them via the checksum (most probably) available?

SuSE doesn't provide ISOs with more than the bare minumum, so he obviously got the official CDs from somewhere.

Yes I purchased them at a store. Might anyone know what is going on? I wouldn't *think* the CD was corrupted. Ideas?

Thanks.

Try installing from that CD on another computer. Check your system memory ! When my memory was corrupt I got those kinf of messages. If you don't solve the problem go oto www.linuxforums.org .Hope that helps...

I had the same problem when I bought suse 9.0 professional (sort of)

I had the exact same problem you described when I used the DVD (everything worked except the package list). It worked fine with the CDs though. Oddly enough the DVD worked ok after installation... well, err for a little while anyway, both the CDs and DVD stopped working with YAST after getting packages off them a couple of times, in fact I think they just generally refused to be mounted, despite not being scratched or dirty

This is (partly) why I'll never be using suse again
