Assistant Sound Designer Wanted

Greetings! I am the Music and Sound Director for an online video game team called Modern Magic Enterprises. Like many teams on this Forum, we are not currently getting paid, nor are we offering a paying position. If you´re looking for quick cash, I´m afraid we can´t help you. What I can offer is the chance to have your sound effects appear in our game. We have been working on a game called "Rabid Jack Thrash" since October. It will be a platformer/3rd person shooter, that takes place in a fantasy realm (the hero is a human-rabbit hybrid that takes on different "forms", each with unique strengths and weaknesses).. The title is a TOTAL Mod of UT2004, and is for the PC. The first working rough demo (one playable level) of our game is scheduled to be completed next week. It is our intention to enter our game in the "Make Something Unreal" contest sponsored by the makers of Unreal. As such, we have roughly 60 days or so to complete the full game demo. I have been creating all music and sound effects for the title, but with the deadline looming, I simply cannot finish all audio content for the game by myself in time for the contest. As such, I am seeking an Assistant Sound Designer, to take over the bulk of the sound effects work that remains. [This position will NOT involve any music composition]. If you´re like many of us who haunt this forum, then you may have been on teams in the past, and those teams more than likely never completed their game. I won´t promise in blood that we will finish this game... but I know we are well on our way, based upon the amount of work that has already been completed. This project is not in the planning stages, it is in-progress, and heading towards completion. I am not concerned about your level of experience, just about the quality of your work, your ability to follow instructions, and your ability to work quickly. I will be closely monitoring (and sometimes, if needed, editing) your work, as I am the one ultimately responsible for the sound of the game. That said, there is great room for creativity and experimentation within the guidelines of the game design documents. If you are working on multiple other projects, or have very limited free time, please do not reply to this post. I make no promises of fame, fortune, or groupies... just that your sounds will appear in a video game, and that you can use that game for your demo reel. IF we happen to win any money in the UT contest, you will receive a piece of it. Of course we hope that great things will happen with the game, but we make no promises. If you are interested, please send me an email (best option), or reply via this forum ASAP. I will not take on an Assistant Sound Designer who´s work I have not heard, so you must have some kind of demo(s) of sound effects available for me to hear. Assuming we receive any responses, we will be making a decision about who will join us quickly, as there is much work to be done in a short amount of time. Thank you very much for your time, and I hope to hear from you! Best regards, TODD PS We do not currently have a working public website, but I will gladly send you samples of what we´ve been working on, if your "application" seems promising. You can hear samples of my music and sound design work at the links below.
No money and not even a guarantee the game will get finished. How desperate would you have to be to reply to that! I understand your predicament but perhaps more definate benefits to those who reply might be required.

Mark, that simply doesn't make sense.

How would you ever be able to provide guarantee that a game would be finished? How? There is no way. Professionally developed games are canceled all the time.

And as for pay - well, spend some more time around gamedev.net, and you'll realise that those are the circumstances under which we all operate.

I'm afraid you've come to the wrong site if you're looking for either pay or guarantee of release. There's nothing unreasonable about Tower888's request.

I was just doing the best I could to be up-front and honest. I needed someone to help with a non-paid team, and I said so. I made no false promises, and didn't delve into unrealistic fantasies of wealth and fame. I was trying to make the post honest and flame proof---but I guess that's just about impossible in this forum.

Thanks for the interest and support from most of you who replied to the post (here and in Help Wanted). We have chosen an ASD (Stephen M.) for this project, but we may need more help in the future. Thanks again for your time!

Sincerely,
TODD
