Orchestra Libraries
I do know of a library named Garritan Personal Orchestra Library. I'm intending of getting it, but is it worth my money? 249 US ... looks pretty high, though i saw another one that costed 4k+.. Are there any free ones? Instead of getting those expensive libraries? I just need something better than what is coming out from my stupid cakewalk now.. thx alot
Yes.

Or just use google. I use exclusively free sound libraries (not for synths, of course) and my stuff sounds just fine. The Florestan series of soundfonts is particularly good.

I also recommend soundfonts. There are free orchestral soundfonts all over the web. I now have Garritan Personal Orchestra, but still find myself turning to those soundfonts.
I'm getting the East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition for about $250 pretty soon. It was personally recommended to me by the Command and Conquer series' composer, Frank Klepacki! ^_^

im not very sure how to use soundfonts.. got any tutorials? or can you explain to me ? :)
You can delete your own posts. Try editing it again.
If you have a soundblaster card, it should have come with some Soundfont software.
If you don't, certain versions of FruityLoops let you use a soundfont as an instrument.
ModPlug Tracker lets you use DLS files and therefore may let you use SoundFonts too, but I'm not entirely sure of this.

you should try GigaStudio, it's a lot better than soundfonts.
Yeah. Except Gigastudio costs hundreds of dollars, and the samples cost hundreds to THOUSANDS more, while soundfonts tend to be free. And, considering he asked for free material..
i'll get more professional stuff when i get more professional =).. soundfonts are good for me for the time being. Besides that, my com doesn't have enough ram to support the whole orchestra library ;).. once i get my ram upgraded and save up enough, i'll be getting the best :)..
