Interesting network dilemna

I have an interesting network dilemna. I have a box running some version of embedded linux. It has two Internet connections, one is a ppp connection thats attached to a wireless antenna, the other is an ethernet connection. According to route, the ppp connection is the default. Right now I'm trying to test the reliability of the antenna by pulling it out and re-attaching it. Problem is that when I do this, the data thats supposed to be sent out by the antenna is still being sent. When I pull out the ethernet cable, the program dies with a "Broken pipe". So either the program is switching over to the ethernet, or just using it all along. How can I set things so that outgoing connections, like my program, are sent only by the ppp connection, and incoming connections, like telnet, are still available via the ethernet?
Never mind. The Broken Pipe was the antenna, it just takes about five minutes before it realizes it.
