PAYMENT OF CDS
Hey everyone. Just a comment on those who Jeff was referring to complaining that his compilation CD costing money.
I can''t believe anyone would have the balls to say such a thing. Prime example: Linux, it''s free right? So how is it that Red Hat etc expects people to pay for the CDs? Answer: EASY, they put the work into compiling a very usable CD based product.
It appears that Jeff has put an incredible amount of work into this site and his CD, and anyone who has tried to create a CD production, whether interactive or not, will agree that this is no easy feat.
If you have a problem forking out a palty bit of cash to pay for the costs of production of a CD based product, then I think you are very dissolutioned as to the work and effort that goes into such things.
I for one would have never been ABLE to get into creating OpenGL programs without this site, not only for Jeff''s tutorials, but for all the information he has presented in this one place (links, etc).
Thats my rant, and even though I don''t have the CD, I would without hesitation hand over the money for it, were I in a position to do so (geographically). I praise Jeff for the fine job he has been doing and think he should be thanked by all of us who have found even a snippet of his wisdom to be helpful.

First off, CEL, THANK YOU!
I am in an awkward spot here, anyone that knows me, will tell you that I absolutely don''t brag, I hate talking about my efforts, etc, but in this case, yes, this was a large amount of work. I don''t like to go on and on sounding like a broken record, but here''s some more of my thoughts on the CD.
First. If you think it''s too expensive, there is an easy solution. Don''t buy it. I don''t mean that in a bad way either. If 2 years worth of my code (an honest 2 years, you all know if you''ve been following the site for the last two years), 27 other programmers code, along with a full CD of original MP3''s, 3 wicked bar mix dance tunes, tons of presized (64x64,128x128,256x256) textures, 20 megs of sound effects, at LEAST 10 full games (awesome), and LOTS more isn''t worth the $20 I ask for the CD (which by the way costs me $5 for the actual CD, disc, case, inserts, printed both sides) then please don''t buy it. You can still learn alot from the site.
Second. The 2 years of work that is not available anywhere else is the project code from my site. This is code that I spent anywhere from a few days to weeks coding for EACH project. Code I had NO intention of ever releasing. I released it on the disc because the demand was extremely high. To make money!?! No, to make what I know available to everyone! The money I DO make which is not alot after shipping costs, as you can already see is being put back into the site. I don''t know about where you live, but in Canada, a GeForce 2 is still a very expensive card!
Anyways... enough talk... I''m honest, I''m dedicated, and I bust my but for this site every day. NeHe Productions is not a TEAM of people... it''s ONE person... me! This is my attempt to collect everything that I think is either bloody amazing or extremely useful onto one CD that can be purchased by ANYONE that want''s to learn even more.
I''ve seen coders selling one custom library for as much as $800. This is probably close to 100 programs for $20.
Please reply. Because I want to know what you think... Your opinions are important positive or negative.

Probably going to make myself look bad by posting so much, but in regards to orders. I''ve noticed quite a few people have filled in the order, and just before okaying it they''ve cancelled... five minutes later they start to order then cancel again. If the Visa price shocks you compared to the $18 US cost I ask for via cash, money order, or cheque, here''s an explanation on why the cost is different.
First: Buyme charges an additional $2.50 for their own fee. $18 goes to $20.50. Shipping is done through registered mail (at least $5.00), to add tracking which is REQUIRED for visa orders, I pay another $9. If you have doubts, call Canada Post. So as you can see, $18+$2.50+$5.00+$9 is more than I''m asking.
Why do you pay less if you pay cash? No tracking saving me $9, no fee, saving me $2.50, cd is sent ground... costs me $2.50 to $5.00.
Hope that clears things up.

Well when I hadn''t even heard of NeHe or GameDev, I found a site and this guy in Germany helped me a lot with the descision between OpenGL or DirectX. I am glad now that I chose OpenGL. No flaming please. I am trying to write a FPS cause I think that are great. I decided for Octree levels but that is giving me a lot of strees. Too much for my little mind to handle. I got most of it just can''t code it. Unless it is just the VB that is pulling me down
I bought the book ''OpenGL Superbible''. good book and all, just that NeHe''s tutorials are much much better. I am not kidding either. His texture mapping tutorials makes it sssooo much easier to understand. NeHe kicks ass! I can''t wait for my CD now. Stupid snail mail
Jamie.
You might of noticed me posting my name as Owen Choice sometimes or Jamie. The difference is that on the Internet I used to use the name Owen but I stoped that now Oh yeah, I started a website E Interactive. Well that quickly stopped when I noticed a company called E Interactive.

As you may know, I am working on an RPG at the moment (I''ve been slowed up by mid-semester exams)
Another thing, I started out learning DX and D3D. Boy, was that ever a mistake!
I would like to thank Blitz of The Sauce for having a link to NeHe on his site. With out it I may have been damned to an eternal hell of DirectX
Also, more importantly, a special hats off goes out to NeHe for him and his site being just so damn cool!
Ordering soon,
Andrew
Eh, manutd, I write all my critical routines in assembler, and my comedy routines in Visual Basic.
Also is manutd ment to mean Manchester United?
