GIMP - Bump Maps
Hey there.
I recently started playing around with the imaging program GIMP, i got on to this by reading another post in this forum not long ago. Anyway, i come across the BumpMapping functionality, and am really stoked about this. There are some cool effects offered by this free program.
Anyway, my problem is that you have to convert an image to greyscale to apply bump mapping. and that works cool. But you can''t convert it back to it''s original colours with the bump map still applied. Or can you?... Yes, basically that is my question, can you do bump mapping and retain the images original colours? If so how?
I hope you can help me out. Thanks for your time.

you can..
I make another layer, then greyscale the bumpmap for that 1 layer, then go back to my main layer and then render my bumpmap there(with compensate for darkening checked)
