Head gear - advice needed.

Okay, so I'm building a character for my next game project. Here's a quick sample pose. Now, I modelled everything except the head (Yes, I -can- and have modelled plenty of heads, but I decided to take a shortcut this time around!). Even though I modified it quite a bit, I still want the character to have some sort of head gear that will obscure his face in some way (doesn't have to completely cover) or at least de-emphasize the face. About the outfit/pertinent story elements: The game is roughly sci fi, without an emphasis on technology. The main character is the only human within this planet. The protaganistic species are a set of "priest" like creatures. The outfit he wears is essentially the alien's robes slightly modified (pants ;p). I don't want him to wear a helmet, nor does a normal "hat" seem appropriate in this situation. So, any ideas? [edited by - Kandolo on May 25, 2004 8:51:19 PM]

A mask of some sort seems like it would go well with the outfit. Btw I would make his belt/waist area narrower to give him a more graceful shape.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

His waist is actually above averagely narrow as is. He just has a couple layers of things around his waist, mostly that bulky wrap. I can tweak it a little, but I don''t feel he necessaly needs to be graceful. I''d prefer "average leaning rugged" over graceful (which is another reason I want to hide the face... he''s kinda twinky right now ;p)

I''ll spare you the plot behind this reasoning, but a mask really wouldn''t fit the game.

I''m currently considering having some sort of alien cybernetic implant with more hair.... or some sort of alien crown or charm

what about a spartan type mask?
Okay, you guys are probably going to think I''m nuts... but I think I''m just gonna give him some sunglasses!!

I''m about to model them, so I may change my mind once I see it... but I really want to push an awkward juxtaposition of the old meets new type get-up... really want to great an interesting dichotomy

I also had the idea of giving him a blindfold... I really wish I could have found an excuse to give him one. There''s just something about a blindfolded character that interests me... Possibly something to pursue in the future.

Of course, it may wind up looking cheesy... so keep comin up with ideas if you have any

Gave him a hat and glasses, tightened up the waist a bit, and changed a few colors around... Gives him more of a strong silent look I think. (Those arm drapes aren't new, btw... you just couldn't really see them in the other render... ) I still need to work on proliferating the contrast within its image... What do you guys think?

Looks good!! I''d suggest you alter the colors on the lower area (including legs and armor). It get kinda confusing and bland at the same time. He know looks like a futuristic cowboy . I like!
Is he wearing Skechers?
gsgraham.comSo, no, zebras are not causing hurricanes.

That''s what I was gonna say It also looks like he''s wearing bell-bottom pants. The glasses look cool, but I don''t think the hat fits--it looks kind of blues brothers''ish to me. Ooh, maybe put like a red and orange spotted bandana on his head.
Huh. The hat is... interesting. o.O Certainly makes a statement. The waist does look better that way. You might also want to widen the sporran (hanging down triangle belt thingy) to make him look more balanced, unless that would interfere with the animation of the legs. Maybe ditch those red gems too, especially if you''re trying to make him look more masculine.
