Ahh well doesn''t matter, I''ll just brainstorm some stuff next time I''m drunk.
What about portals? Being an artist I don''t know jack about all the latest fancy pants bsp-tree whatever but I think I get the idea behind portholes. If you can break up your areas in to zones that you can travel to in game but cant see at the same time, you can use portals.
The way they work is, Imagine you are in a room in quake and you can see in to the next room. The door is a portal, only your room and the room you can see are loaded. You move in to the next room through a door, the last room you were in is unloaded (with out you noticing) and now you are some ware else. Think room to room, Building to out side, Street to sewer, carriage to carriage on a train.
Perhaps a programmer can tell me if i''m talkin'' crap but it sounds cool?

As Mr Cup always says,
