Debian's apt cache

When I first created my Linux partition on my otherwise Windows loving hard drive I wasn''t planning on Linux being my default OS, and I only gave it about 3 GB. Now, a few years later, that 3 GB is VERY tight. I know a better solution would be to shrink my Windows partition and expand the Linux partition (which I did once already a couple years ago), but right now I need a quick fix. I noticed that apt is caching .deb packages down in /var/cache, and right now there''s about 500 MB of packages in there. Can I safely delete those, or is there a more formal process I have to go through? I don''t want to screw anything up. Game Development Wiki
I like the DARK layout!
yeah, probably.

dselect usually cleans those up, try using that once.

apt-get clean will do it for you! Or you can just delete them yourself with no consequences!

Yeah, do a "man apt-get" and look at "clean" and "autoclean".
