What are some good programs (free or not) to use to make music? - Thanks

Yeah, but then:
1) You have to play the instrument (may or may not be a problem)
2) You need a microphone and a semi-decent sound card
3) You have to actually be able to play your song without screwing up

It''s so much easier just to let the machine work it out for you, even if it lacks character, tonality, intonation, expressiveness, phrasing, real dynamics, and general emotion

I found a very nice program today for creating sheet music, called Finale NotePad. It''s basially free notating software. It''s really nice, and prints pretty sheet music. Then, if you have actual musical skill, you can play your music and record it

Where in the world did you get the idea that it''s free? Yes, they''ve got a VERY limited demo version for free download. You can only create a few pages with it...
