Free compsotion software?
Hi all,
I'm looking for some free music composition software. I've tried out ModTracker, but wasn't impressed. I'm looking for MIDI or better. I have a keyboard and a MIDI cable... Thanks!

I don''t remember the names of many, but a search on Tucows.com for midi programs is a good start. They''re all a bit cumbersome to work with, but my favourite so far has been MusicMasterworks. It''s got a plain layout and everything I wanted to know about it was given in the help files. I don''t have a midi keyboard though so I don''t know whether it''s supported or not.
Hope this helps.

that''s a tough question because most of the worthy software I know that support MIDI keyboards you have to pay for. You might, however, want to check this web this out:

In the music software download section, they have a pretty extensive list of software to make music. They are not all free (some of them have a small fee), but at least its a start in the right direction.
Hope this helps.
My signature used to suck. But it''s much better and more accurate now.

If you haven''t seen it yet (it''s very new software, though) - you MUST see it!

Kristal looks great! Shame it won''t run on my Win98/IE5 system though!

I highly reccomend Buzz. It's got a pretty steep learning curve, but you can do pretty much anything you want with it.
Edit: Although to use Midi with it, you'll need something along the lines of Hubi's Midi Loopback utility, and probably need to play around with it quite a bit to get the synchronization correct.

check out powertab editor. i dont remember the URL but google should. it was meant for guitar, but there is a staff display along with guitar tab. it allows for MIDI export, and up to 12 instruments, if i remember correctly. plus, its free and pretty easy to work with.
-=bPhen=- , what a pity...
