I write lots of bits of music in Cakewalk, FruityLoops, and ModPlug Tracker, but would like a bit more flexibility with arranging the sections. Ideally I could render these sections to WAV files and then arrange them with simple drag-and-drop actions, somewhat like ACID I expect. ACID Express looks ok but I have no idea about the restrictions and I''d rather not go filling in a lot of personal information (as required on the download site).
I don''t need tempo-stretching or anything like that, but I will probably need to be able to use more than 8 different samples in any one song. Any suggestions?

That''s pretty good, and I may end up using it. So thanks for that. But is there anything which works on a tempo-based system so that I can align things to measures rather than milliseconds or having to start one file directly after another?

You can put wav samples into Cakewalk just like ACID. :\ I know you can with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 anyway...and all the cakewalks after that(Sonar, Sonar EX, Sonar EX2, Home Studio 2004, etc).
FL4 lets you do it too I believe, but I still haven''t gotten around to using it enough to know.
Peace.
