Fantasy Theme 50% opinions ?
Hi to all (again)
I have "completed" the OST for a fantasy project,i have posted
time ago a "basic" theme. Now this is "the finished" theme.
It miss only the choirs and it''s completed.
Can you all give me an opinion "filmwise" and "melodywise"?
This is an excerpt from the main theme.. (The Longest Journey)
i tried to give it "a movie feel" , so i need your impressions,
emotionally and technically.
Maybe i asked too much... ^_^
Thanks again to all on game.dev
Best..
PS: i''m going crazy with choirs (someone knows where to find
the BEST choirs on the web? SF2,wav etc.. ?)

All I can tell you really is that the mixing and panning are terrible. :\ The song itself is actually quite good but it suffers severely as far as quality is concerned.

hi,cblockdis..
yes you''re right, the mixing and panning are terrible,
cause the track "HAS" to be mixed and panned when it will be completed.. ^_^.. it''s a 50% track status.. :-)(there''s no panning and mixing now as it is..)
BTW do you think harmony & melody works well?
PS: where i can find a good guide to mix a track like this in the best way ? (correct positions of instruments..etc..)
Thank you for the reply..

Guides won''t really help you so much as your own personal taste. The mixing is more towards the balance of the instruments which right now is weighed heavily in the mid and treble ranges. There was little bass in it to back up the midrange and treble instruments.
I''m listening to it again to get a better idea of what could be done to help it. As far as the actual music goes I really can''t think of anything to say other than to bring the bass out. The bass is REALLY weak(except the drums, but ...they just don''t give enough by themselves.
For the panning just pan it so you don''t have 20 instruments all stackedi n the same spot. If you put all 5 string parts(assuming you used Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello, Double Bass) in the same speaker then you won''t be able to hear each part as well. However, if you pan the violians and violas on each speaker, say ...violin I and Viola on the left, cello and violin II towards the right, and through the double bass in the center channel you could hear all the individual parts A LOT better.
However, panning is something you''ll just have to play around with to get a good feel for.
Peace.

I think you could do with more of a melody. Really get a well-formed motive and sequence the hell out of it, at the moment, melodically speaking, the entire piece sounds a lot like the first five seconds being looped over and over again.
Definitely needs better mixing, my ears are still ringing from the strings.

It''s really good! Kinda Final Fantasy.
We have an opening in our group, we need a musician. The music is japanese inspired, both slow and rock-type. If you think it sounds interesting, check my post at:

CBlockDis, you seem to know what you''re talking about. If you feel up to it please check our post.
Thank you both
