I should include that it uses ARB_VBO.
So, the drivers will need to updated.

It runs on my machine but I don''t see any shadows - how do I turn them on?

the shadows are already on.
Perhaps, your using an ATI card?
This was a problem , ATI claimed to fix in their newer drivers.

nice, but to me it's allmost exactly like your previous(release 5) demo(other models and better shadows in this release).
thing's to concider
1. use some kind of lighting.
2. use less jerky animations.
3. it would be nice if they would move around a little.
4. self shadowing.
5. the room could be more exiting.
6. PPL.
either way i get a FPS value somewhere in the range of 80-100(vsync off).
p4 3.0 HT
1 GB DDR400 RAM
GFFX5600(w 128mb)

I don''t get shadows either (R9700 Pro) so I guess it is a driver issue. I was still getting around 50fps though :-/
p4 2.6
Radeon 9700 Pro
512MB
I did have a few apps going on in the background too...
Looking at my framerate though i''d say that it''s still doing all of the calculations for your shadows but it''s just not displaying them.
Also, the blending that you use on the fire doesn''t work (is that a known problem?), the outer particles have black outlines...
One other thing, whats with the models spazzing out near the end of the loop?
