Hi folks, If i run, say, winamp via wine, will it use the Linux sound driver/server, or will it use the windows'' ones (supposing there is a Windows installation on another partition)? Is it possible to do that? Thanks, Victor

I''d assume it would use ALSA or OSS for sound; it''s hard to see how it could use a windows sound system when it''s providing the sound API.

As far as my knowledge of WINE goes, I believe its translation layer which basically says "This Windows API call is really done this way in Linux". Win32 programs running under WINE think they are running in a Windows environment, but all the API calls are being translated into Linux calls. So, WinAmp will think its using the Windows sound system, but it will be really using the Linux sound system (whichever one is configured on your box).

Of course, I could be wrong...
