"Why would you want to" questions aside, what would it take to get Linux to have Windows style file systems? Like non-case sensitive and directories like C: and D:? Could existing file systems (ext3, Reiser) be modified to work like that? Would the kernel need to be modified? Is it possible? Feasible? Game Development Wiki
I like the DARK layout!
If you want to ease transition for the average user, just hack Konqueror / Nautilus to display C: instead of /mnt/hda1 ...

IIRC Xandros''s XFM does somthing similar.

When you mount a FAT, VFAT, or NTFS partition in Linux, it uses case-insensitive filenames But, since you lose any sort of file permissions, you couldn''t really use one as a root filesystem. You could probably hack the ext3 or ReiserFS drivers to use case insensitive filenames, and without looking at the code, it shouldn''t be too difficult.
You''d probably have trouble installing some programs which may have files with identical filenames with different cases.
