I''m a relative *nix newbie, and I''m having a really tough time getting an SMC8036TX PCMCIA ethernet adapter working in 2.4.11. cardmgr doesn''t recognize it on startup, but if I type the following lines, the status lights come on and it seems to be communicating: insmod pcmcia_core insmod i82365 modprobe smc91c92_cs However, ifconfig eth0 returns the error that the device is not found, and it''s not in my /dev folder. Because of this, I can''t use Novell Zen (fD3) Imaging on this Gateway SOLO 2550 laptop (lack of DHCP removes the ability to upload proxy images, etc.).
