I just downloaded FreeBSD 5.1 ISOs (both disk 1 and 2 as well as the mini-install ISO) tonight and tried installing it on a computer with the following specs: PII 400 MHz AOpen AX6B motherboard (440BX chipset) 32x Creative IDE CD-ROM 128 MB sdram Geforce 2 MX 400 card I put in disk 1 and try booting from CD-ROM. It starts booting from the CD, but displays the following then hangs:
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:
CD Loader 1.01

Building the boot loader argments
Relocating the loader and the BTX
No matter what, it''ll always hang at that. I tried putting in the mini-install CD, and I get a little bit further, but hangs after outputting the following:
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:
CD Loader 1.01

Building the boot loader argments
Relocating the loader and the BTX
Starting the BTX loader
I''m wondering if anyone has had a problem like this when trying to get FreeBSD to install, and if so, how could I go about and fix it?
Try making the 2 boot floppies (kern.flp and mfsroot.flp if my memory serves me rite.) and using those to start the install.
