Getting hired from another country

Hi all. I''ll start sending resumes to game development studios inside the EU soon, so I''d like to know what the process of hiring someone from another country who is willing to relocate is like. More concretely, I''m interested in knowing how the interview is set up. I guess that, given the inherent difficulties in hiring someone from abroad, the hiring company will setup a face to face interview only if they have a somewhat high degree of certainity of hiring you. I also would like to know who usually covers the travel expenses that a interview causes, the interviewee or the studio ?. I''m from a EU member state, so fortunately I don''t have to worry about visas. Just in case it matters, a bit of personal info: I''m 21, I''ve got a bachelor''s degree in computer science and a demo to show, I''m a programmer with no previous experience in the game industry. ------------------------------------------------------ Cuando miras al abismo el abismo te devuelve la mirada. Well, I''ll bump this post once before letting it fade into the depths of the forum.

Isn''t there anyone who has been recruited from abroad and wants to share his experience?, or better yet, someone from a development studio that has hired somebody from another country?

I''d like to have some general idea about what to expect beforehand...

Correct.

The company would normally cover the cost but might not in the case of someone who has no industry experience. Without a proven track record it will be hard to show that you are better than home grown graduates and thus work the extra effort that hiring you would entail. You might find you have to relocate first in order to get jobs or at least plan a trip (at your expense) in order to attend interviews. If this were the case organising as many as possible would maximise the value of the trip.
