i am trying to have loaded jpeg''s and glprint in same scene but the jpeg get''s very dark... why?

If the scene turns dark after one frame, check if your enabled/disabled state is exacly the same as on init. I had this with (i think it was) an enabled GL_BLEND, as i didn''t disable it at the end of the drawing routine.

Set the color to white, i bet your font changes the color.

i did forget the glDisable
(GL_LIGHTING);
after the text...
