Okay... basically I've been working on an idea for a game... the easiest way to explain it would be RPG/Turn-Based Strategy/Chess. This "harmony" of genres gives the game it's title.
The basis of the game, for the most part will be an turn-based isometric strategy. You will go around with your band of characters/warriors killing things, doing missions, sieging castles, boring stuff like that.
The chess comes around with how the movement system works: instead of being able to move a certain number of squares in any direction, you will be limited in the "types" of moves you can make... ie. "knight" class movement allows "L" shape moves, "bishop" moves diagonally.. etc. In order to achieve this, the traditional level up system will be cast aside in preferance of a ability-purchase system - you get EXP to buy new ablities, which in turn, allow you to buy more abilities.
Aside from the chess/ability part, this may sound like many other games... FF Tactics, Fire Emblem, etc., however, what those games do not offer is the chance to "run around talking to people". Many people who I talk to are completely repulsed by the lack of this, therefore this more boring aspect will be included. You will be
allowed to walk to the next field of battle, talking to every farmer along the way,
or , if you're like me, you'll just hop on the horses and ride off to a quick glory.
I've been working for some time toying with the idea, and am getting *prepared* to build the engine. I'm hoping to make it in 3D, but since I do this stuff as a hobby, I guess I have to rest of my life to work

Anyway... I was hoping to get some opinions/ideas/innovations about this... I haven't heard about any game that has done this yet.. if you know about one then post a link to it. Cool! :D
