So I know where and how to get/install my modem drivers BUT...

...I can''t afford the Linuxant drivers for HCF modems (full version). The free version limits the modem to (get this) 14.4 kbps. This is a really big setback... :/ Atleast I got a page (by the people who made College Linux) on how to install the kernel source (since it doesn''t come with the source) and how to compile a new one - that is actually quite great. But is there a point if it will only be limited to 14.4 kbps? This really sucks. Really. :/

Erm, guess I should have asked this the first time around:

Any advice? I could really use some.

My stock response is to buy a real modem, but if you can''t afford the software modem, you probably can''t afford a hardware one either.

You can try and get hold of one of the old (free) beta versions - these worked well for a lot of people. Google for "hcflinmodem". I have an old version kicking about somewhere if you really can''t find anything.
:/ It seems all of the downloads redirect me to linuxant.
If you have an ftp site and would be willing to upload the hcflinmodem drivers I would really appreciate that.
