GNOME and KDE
I''m not looking for a flame war, here. I''m just wondering which one of these you guys prefer, and why. I was using GNOME for a while, and now I''m trying KDE and I like it better, so far. It seems to be way more configurable and featured than GNOME, and so far I haven''t found anything GNOME does that it doesn''t.
Is there any big advantage to GNOME I''m missing here, or something? And what major differences are there between the two? I''ve only been on KDE for a day and a half, so I haven''t seen all that much...

It''s a really hard question.
I currently use Gnome, because it compiles faster and my KDE refused to work after a update.
Also KDE seems to use slightly more resources, anyone that can confirm this?
Gnome 2.4 was released recently, but I don''t know how much it improved.
After all it''s a matter of taste and religion :D

I prefer KDE over Gnome, just because I can do more with it. Gnome runs a bit slower on my computer it seems as well. Ive tried to use Gnome, because all my friends do (), but I just like KDE just feels better.
I''d say both have their advantages/disadvantages.
Gnome is imho a bit more ''lightweight'' but has not as many features as kde.
Kde on the other hand has nearly everything already on board but some apps are quite crap.
One of these apps os Konqueror. Its great and all but on my system it crashes much too often (Debian/Sid) and html rendering is very often broken. The gnome counterpart nautilus is more stable (using gnome 2.4) and the html rendering is bone by mozilla so it is as compatible as you can get.
But that was just an example
I for myself use currently kde (I had some problems with the new gnome 2.4 which were caused by me playing with my libs) and using some gnome apps (and others thats the great thing with debian)
But if you like a lightweight windowmanager i recommend windowmaker. I used it until i got my second monitor and wmaker doesnt like the nvidia dualhead setup,
but thats just my 2c
greetz lousy

in my experience gnome has been the cleaner, more workable environment, while KDE just looks prettier.

All I can say is that is not typical. I run Debian/Sid and use Konqueror as my main browser. It works perfectly for me. I prefer KDE myself, though I have little experience with Gnome, so take it with a grain of salt.
The following statement is true. The previous statement is false.
