Yes, I''m a noobie. Yes, I''m pathetic. But none-the-less, I can''t manage to properly UVW map my 3D objects. I''ve tried more than one tutorial (and they all LOOKED good, at least...) but nothing seems to be working for me. Probably because I''m an idiot, but that can''t be helped now, can it? I''d really appreciate it if someone else would properly UVW map my model for me. It SHOULD be simple, considering that its just a pathetic weapons model. Its either that, or finding a REALLY good tutorial on UVW mapping in MAX R3. Thanks.
Oh, come on!!! Someone at least TELL me if I''m being an idiot.

Could you post a picture of your model? It might make it easier to help you.
Oh. Can do.

Sorry that its on geocities...

While I was trying to follow along my last tutorial, I also divided up the model by using a multi-material, and assigning a different ID to each group of faces (for example, the left side of the handle). If that helps...
I could probably map that for you, if you''d like.
Unless you''d rather learn how yourself, then I could try and walk you through it on IM.
Either would be preferable to leaving it a white blob in-game.

Well... lets see... on MSN messenger, I''m starstriker1@hotmail.com...

Alright, I''ve added you to my contacts list.

I''m usually around in the evenings (GMT), but my computer''s online all the time. So if I don''t reply, it''s not ''cos I''m being rude .
Thanks. Who knows? Maybe all I''ll need is to be walked through it.
Try using UVW unwrapping. This will give you a neat texture in a single file for you entire gun. Then just draw whatever you want on it

Basicly: add a unwrap modifier. go into submode select faces.
Press edit in the roleup. Then select the faces that you feel is "one chunk" then add the apropriate mapping in the edit box. This will "detach" the faces you selected in the mapping and put them seperate. Do this untill you have selected everything. Then try to squuueze them all in by resizing everything to fit into that blue box (make sure to remove tile bitmap under options in the unwrap editor) Then use plugin texporter to export the map as a bitmap. Just edit this in photoshop and do your magic, then save as a jpg or bitmap and add this on the entire object in the diffuse channel..

Can anyone who anyone tell me which Java API should one use to create a 2d chess board but the pieces represented in 3d.
