RedHat & Network Card Problem

I think i found the problem...
I noticed that when redhat starts up, theres a message from kudzu: "Segmentation Fault".
So, i assume that my network card isn''t being detected (i removed it and the error is still there). I checked google and didn''t find anything of particular help.

The driver disk i have doesn''t have any linux drivers on it, and i haven''t a clue who the manufacturer is (Windows says its a ND010 Ethernet/Fast Ethernet PCI Bus Adapter). Any idea where i can download drivers for it? (Pretty vague, i know - sorry)

Cheers,
Steve

Yet another bit of information: the Hardware Browser detected my modem correctly, but diesn''t list the network card there, so its definitely not installed.

Scratch what I said if you read this already =).

I just reread your initial problem. You Network card was detected properly. Looks like the problem is dealing with both network cards (your USB being the second network interface).

Try this, edit your /etc/modules.conf.

Change the 'alias eth0 8319too' to 'alias eth1 8319too'. Then for simplicity, reboot and see if your Card (which uses the RealTek driver) becomes eth1 and Kudzu and RHat properly setup your USB cable modem as the eth0 interface.

You might need to do some research on your USB Cable Modem and Red Hat 9 to see how to configure it properly (assuming it doesn't do it automatically).

Interim

Interin: I actually tried that before, but it didn''t work (I can''t remember exactly why).

I''ve got it working now anyway, I manually added my on-board LAN (and turned it on in the bios) again, and named it eth1. So i now have two network devices by the same driver name, using different aliases. I don''t understand how, but it works I can ping all the other machines on my network now
Strangely, in the network configs, the status for eth0 is "ok" and eth1 is "system". Anyway, i''ve got a new problem with Samba, which i''m about to post about...
