Map Making; how to get started
I''ve been wanting to try my hand at map making; Q2 specifically. So how do you get started? I''ve done some googling and so far I''ve found Quark and worldcraft. Are there any other map editors out there? Anyone have links to some good tutes/resources? Hints and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Look at QERadiant, it seems to be the ''official'' (in a sense) Quake 2 map editor.
As for hints/tips/whatnot I''ll just impart what I know and considered to be the most useful info.
Drawing up a quick layout of your map on paper, or in your favorite paint program, will save you a lot of time later on.
Texture as you go. Going through the entire map and texturing stuff after you''re finished is a real pain. (Trust me, I know from experience)
Make backups. This is a no-brainer- no matter what program you use, it can and most likely will crash some time.
As for tutorials, none come straight to my head, since I haven''t done any mapping for Q2 without failing (I only have the demo).
Have fun, and I hope my ridiculously brief reply can help you.

My favorite Quake game editor is definitely WorldCraft.. i have had very good experiences with it. QERadiant is indeed the "official" map editor.. but i can''t stand it.
Though, to be honest, my favorite map editor is really UnrealED for Unreal Tournament (the other versions seem buggy as hell though)
