Sponsorship for new web site
(if the moderators feel that this post is spam, do delete it...but I hope they don't)
Hi,
I'm trying to find a sponsor to fund my new Digimon site.(anime/fantasy stuff for kids and pre-teens)
I'm very serious and enthusiastic about this, and have been dreaming and planning for this for months.....but no matter how great things go, I lack the financial resources to start in the first place.
I've tried all kind of methods and ways, but in vain.
Thus, if any game developer is interested in being a sponsor, do reply or contact me at :
xeon@sheencal.com
This is not going to some half-baked kiddy project, I assure you.
I've lots of new features not seen anywhere in it's field to attract visitors to come back for more, and it would be good if someone can give me this one financial chance.
I'll provide more details on request.

No one will sponsor your web site until you can prove that it is worth sponsoring. Companies sponsor things as advertising, to get their name seen. You will need to start your web site and build up a user base of visitors before anyone would consider sponsoring you.
There are millions of great web sites out ther produced without sponsorship. If you can''t even match them without funding people are unlikely to have faith that your site will be any good.

Hi Dan!
Yes, I know that''s the tough part : trying to get people to sponsor you when you don''t even have a thing to show them.
In my case, I need the financial resources to hire an artist to draw anime characters before the web site looks good, as well as a good web host and some allowances left for marketing.

Nobody will give you money to create a website, unless you have a proven record of success.
The most logical choice you have is to start the work yourself. Do what you can, even if it isn''t perfect. Then later on, you can post a message on Help Wanted. Get some volunteers to help you after you show them what you did. Repeat this process for around a year or two and then you will have a slightly better chance of getting a sponsor.

Stop dreaming, and start coding! 99% of your site can be complete before you even think about getting artists and sponsors and whatnot.
Here is a how-to on setting up Apache, PHP and MySQL on your machine.

I think you shouldn''t expect getting any financial backing this way. Instead, you should go ahead and begin this project on your own. But, lucky for you, websites are pretty simple and you can do it.
First, you need to create the website. You can learn about html all over the net - just google for it. (I learned html from htmlgoodies.com) I''m pretty sure you can find free html editors too that''ll help you.
As for custom anime images, you don''t need them right now. Remember, the most important thing about your website is the content, not fancy pictures and flash animations. If you really want them, I''d suggest posting on anime-related forums and asking there. I''m sure some fans might be interested in your ideas, and would agree to work on the site with you.
As for webspace, you can find free hosting all over the internet. (geocities is the one I can think of right now, but they''re a lot more out there. Just google for them.)
Also, you have the option of purchasing a domain name. They''re prety cheap nowadays (less than $20 per year) but not necessary at this early stage.
For marketing, you just need to make your presence known by the fans and make sure you offer something unique. Visit forums, post on newsgroups, etc. It''s hard work, but, if you''re really serious about this, then it''ll be worth it.
Once your site is attracting people directly, and you have consistent visitors, then you can move on. Get the domain name. Get paid hosting. Hire artists. Get sponsors. But, right now, your best bet is to do it on your own.

Thanks everyone!(especially to HQ-Soft!)
I guess I''ve been enlightened after months : Yes, I''ll try to create the best content-based Digimon site!]
I will!
Thanks, guys!
Xeon.(and to think I spent months e-mailing to over two hundred potential sponsors) :D
