MS DirectMusic Producer - where can I find completely information about it? This software is fully unknown for me and I wonder, are there any books about DMP? Thanks.

DMP is notoriously difficult to learn.

There isn''t any official documentation beyond the help file and the few articles on msdn:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dmusprod/htm/directmusicproducer.asp

Join this e-mail list to get any questions you have answered, (familiarise yourself with the program and its concepts first!):

This book, Edited by Todd Fay, is published in October:

http://www.wordware.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=wwpub∏_Code=1556222882

Having proof read some of the chapters I can guarantee you that it is the only and therefor best book that covers a lot of DMP and DirectMusic.

thank you, Kenbar are you well grouded in this software? can I write to you, if I have any questions?

Sure, but it''d be better if you post your questions in this thread so that other people can access the information
thank goodness, I thought nobody can''t help me ...
as a new gamestudio, we decide to use this software and the interactivity it gives, but I feel like a fish out of water ... this program is so baffle
I think to make the music in .wav and to import it into DMP; the possibilities to make music by its own sequencer are very scanty how long file can be imported as .wav?
for the present I have no more questions (I have to read some documentation first) 10x

File size isn''t a problem because you can stream the waves.

As long as disk space isn''t an issue then working with waves might be doable. I say "might" because I haven''t worked much with waves and there are always problems to overcome when using DMP!

and what about the DLS? DMP has no SF2 support and I think that's a huge blunder ...

if you're interested, check my site:

there are some demos you can rate
(OLD demos, really old ...)

Because SF2 supports playing ROM samples from SB cards it is a no-go as far as compatibility on every PC...

Awave studio will convert from sf2 to dls (1 or 2).
I''ll try. 10x
but one problem appears: "Unable to find a port in the current configuration that supports DLS. DLS instruments will be unavailable for playback." and then "Initial download failed" - the program can''t recognize its own files ... without rhyme or reason I think ...
is that just a bug or ...? 10x again

Are you using something other than the Microsoft Synthesizer?
