wavelab''s gui has too much eyecandy, and selecting is VERY slow looking (when you select audio via mouse it looks like 15fps) even on a 2.5ghz with a gf4 or matrox 550 so it must be the prog.
I do hear it has faster processing, But I really hate that prog with a passion. I didnt notice much diff between wavlab and sf proc times.

Cooledit, is a decent prog simular to Vegas.
I still prefer vegas for all my multitracking/mixing tho.
"... And what really sickens me? :-) well a company I contacted informed me that they had an audio developer.. they have bio on their website, he graduated in marketing and was the lead programmer, audio really is the side job."

hmm, have you enabled "do not gradient backgrounds" ? (option/pref./display)

I like SF, but I realy hate the plugin-chainer ( you can only see a single plugin - in wavelab 4.0 its much more comfortable.
In case any one is interested I''ve developed some software that I use for my SFX. The new version (2.00+) that I use professionally to create SFX is not available but the older (and inferior but still usable) is fine, and I used it to make the sfx for several of my older games.

It''s called Noise Station and was desigend as music sequencer software, but as a synth too works fine for SFX. The trial version works 100% if all you want to do is synthesize (the only limit is 4 music tracks which isn''t relevant to synthesizing).

Get it from http://www.cornutopia.net

Oh, if anyone is interested in my sound effects they''re on http://www.indiesfx.co.uk
