DDS file format, M$ and the GL
I just want to be sure if DDS file format can be used with GL applications.
On DirectX help I didn''t find anything like "you can use DDS only if you use DX" but when there''s M$ around, it''s always safer to be sure!
I see many people using it so I think it''s 100% free but... hey 100% free from M$? It must be a joke. Since I cannot believe this, I need to ask.
Can I really use it as I wish?
Thank you!

The actual file format you''ll have no problem with. You''ll need to check the specific license for any tools you use to create the files though (I imagine any tools with the DX toolkit are free to use).
nVidia released a DDS plugin for photoshop, and other texture tools. Have a look here: http://developer.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=ps_texture_compression_plugin
