Hi Keith!

Yeah, finally finished it. The last 20% of the work really does take 80% of the time.

I''m going to submit Chess Commander to 350+ software sites at the weekend. I''ll also give ''egamezone.net'' a try. Hopefully I can start making a return soon. I''ll need to sell at least 2 copies a month to pay for the web-hosting

Hows the new job?
Great webpage, but you might want to change the part about "board annotation" -- "Probably a world first!". Chessbase is currently the leader in chess databases and has had board annotation for years. So does chessclub.com, which is a server where you pay-to-play. Great place to find 2200+ ELO competetion (which is rare every where else).

All databases support board annotation, and most of all programs also have features that automatically create graphical annotations in their analysis modes.

Its just that having a statement like that shows you are not familiar with the competition in the genre which would be a huge turnoff to any publisher (or potential consumer).

In any case it looks like you put alot of work into the program, so wish you best...

Oh well, guess I covered my self by saying ''probably a world first''

I''ve used the Chessclub software and I couldn''t see any board annotation options, must have missed it.

I admit I''ve never used Chessbase - mainly because of the expense (£86!). Is the annotation interactive over a network or can you just create annotations for future reference? If its not realtime for both players then maybe I can still claim a first..

Cheers.

Nope, chess base is purely local.

To annotate on chessclub just start an examined game.. or match yourself.

Right click and drag from one square to another to create arrows visible by any other players observing the game or just right click once on a square to circle a piece. It works quite well. I used to give lessons on ICC and its what I would use.
