I just saw a preview of Half-Life II on ign.com, the graphics quality seem to look just like Quake III''s graphic quality. Has Serria bought the Quake engine agien?

No, if I remember right, valve actually developed their own engine for this particular game, and that could be a part of the explaination as to why it has taken this long from when half-life first came out to whenever HL2 comes out.

For the last 5 years they''ve been working on their own in house engine. They for sure, have not bought id''s engine. Plus, we should be talking about Valve not the publishing company.
Well if thats the case Half-Life II seems at the most as powerfull as the Quake III engine. Do you think Half-Life II still uses BSP and MD* files? Ive heard the Doom III engine uses something diffrent.

It is called the "Source" engine. They are also using it for Team Fortress 2 which apparently really does exist, and they''ve licensd it out to some vampire game, I believe.

Which previews did you watch??? That's not the quake 3 engine, anyone with even a little bit of experience in 3d graphics can instantly see that....
