MFC and OpenGL? Or just wishful thinking...

I''ve gone through most of NeHe''s tutorials and the main thing I see repeated is the complete abscence of anything MFC. Is there a specific reason behind this, or is it just for simplicity reasons? I never realized how useful the CFileDialog MFC class was until I realized I couldnt use it. Mainly, I cant include Afxdlgs.h with windows.h included, and if I remove windows.h, the main instance of the application fails to compile (old windows code vs. current day MFC style code). Anyone using MFC in their apps? I can do the conversion, but its a looooot of code to go through, and dont want to spend a few days converting it just to find out it wont work.
