Just saying 'hi' as a new member of the community. I go by the alias of Red_Riot and am in college at the university of UWGB. I enjoy coding and 3d programming, and have recently developed a profoud interest in 3d modeling and 3d game art. I'm looking for people with similiar interests and am hoping to find such people in this virtual community. My current tools include an expensive, but oh so worth it, purchase of 3dStudio Max 5.0 which I am currently learning. I'm going through the book tutorials and I also have the DVD 3dsMax training DvDs from discreet. (which I was abit disapointed with, far to general) I'm hoping to meet members with similiar experience using this program on these forum. In an effort to avoid being blown off by some of the 'higher ups' I'll try to establish some credentials right off the bat. I initially started 3d modeling through Dedit for use with the LithTech engines. I was taught dirrectly by Staff member Rhett (Nerotrobe, Monolith) who has worked on Tron 2.0 and AvP2 and I owe my life to him. My current and past works and designs can be found at www.planetavp.com/red_riot using the AvP2 engine. I enjoy level design, and character design. Hope to enjoy my stay, if someone would kindly tell me the who's who of the forum I would appreciate it. If there are any commonly used and known reference materials relating to 3d Studio Max 5.0, could you please point me in the right direction? Sincerely, Red_Riot ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGH! Why won't it just DO IT? [edited by - Red_Riot on April 10, 2003 1:17:25 PM]

a *very* good computer graphics community you might want to check out (if you haven''t already) is www.cgtalk.com Many industry professionals there, and friendly people willing to help beginners They have a section for game art as well, which is what you say you''re interested in.

good luck with 3d studio max, and with art in general
