3D space combat game
I''m currently designing a space combat game that I''ll eventually program in 3D. The idea is you have your ship and can upgrade it and buy new ships, etc. You can form a guild-like group with other pilots and then this group can buy motherships. Any ideas you would like to see in a game like this?

That game looks great though.
When you dock with your mothership the game will switch to a 2D side scrolling mode. You can enter bars, shops and more and operate your mothership's gun turrets.

I''ve started writing the design doc. You''ll play as a mercenary out for your own gains. But there needs to be something more than just dogfighting some other activity that seperates the fighting.
The thing is, I have allready written similar game. 3d space combat. I have still lot of work to do, but at least its playable.
Now I am looking for campain design. Campain is set of mission, mission is set of fights on waypoints. You have to destroy enemy (and/or protect frienly ships). Each mission must have a briefing. Any ideas?

Sounds a lot like some other games I''ve played. I like the "theme" a lot
I would probably add trading to it. You could run an honest trade, making runs to different planets, or even more fun, you could make a living as a pirate, and steal goods and resell them on the black market.

That''s a lot like this game I played a while ago, I forget the name, its probably ancient in today''s standards, but it was cool. You didn''t go between planets, but instead places on a single planet. YOu could attack other ships steal their stuff and sell it and do whatever you wanted really, it was open ended. Name started with "Hal"... dont know the rest. Anyway, I kinda think the waypoint mission thing has been done too many times before (ala Mechwarrior, Starsiege, plenty of others). It''d be cool if you really developed the universe with multiple fractions and in turn an interesting story. You could ally with others, kill your enemies, take over regimes, and win woo!

When you form a clan, special commanders can control the mother ship by docking with it. Other players can explore the ship in a 2D mode when they dock. You can access a ship''s pubs, shops and gun turrets while you''re craft is modified or repaired.

You should at least add some planets and space stations where the player can get off and walk around and buy things. You can also add characters there that give random missions to pick up/carry cargo around for money or for various favors. When you fail to do a mission (or even worse, run off with the cargo), your reputation around that space station/planet should drop, plus perhaps whoever gave the mission can send people after you to try to shoot you down.
