Any free composer programs around?
Hello
I understand nothing about music (well, I read that article about music composing - which is very good-, but already forgot most of the things taught there), and would like to try some compositions to see if anything good comes up (to possibly use in a game Im making), and as I dont understand anything about music, Im really not willing to spend $$ to buy a composer and then not manage to make the program even play a note out of it.
Well, if anyone knows any free and easy to use program that allows you to save your work to a .MID (or anything), or maybe .WAV, it would be very nice.
Thanks a lot,

There is a shareware music notation program available called "NoteWorthy". I used it a long time ago, and found it to be a decent program, perfectly acceptable for scoring simple songs. I''ve heard it''s now crippled slightly, but it should work well for your purposes. It''s available from NoteWorthy Software (http://www.noteworthysoftware.com). Give it a shot... but, a word of warning, if you really have absolutely no idea how music works, you may have some problems writing any, since basically all notation programs require you to at least read music. =)
Good luck,

Free, but not easy to use: FastTracker, ModPlug Tracker, Impulse Tracker etc. These let you make ''mod'' files, or ''modules'' (XM being the most common format now, I think) which are basically hybrids of the MIDI and WAV concepts. If you can get good with them, you can make some very professional music.
