I want to make a webpage, (I''ve made one before on angelfire), and was wondering what the best server is to make a site on. So I can make a site with like 5Mb, and have it always on (angelfire went down a lot), and not have too many banners.

I recommend this because it has cgi hosting and a very fast server and it has never been down for more than 15 mins. i believe its 25 mb oit might be lower.

If you're sites good enough gamedev'll let you on theirs. Crosswinds is unlimited space and no ads. If you wanna use ASP i recommend eweb city and virtualave (posted by Mr Gamer) for UNIX CGI.

The GDA is the best place for game developers to get free hosting of up to 70MB with cgi and ASP allowed. It aint slow either.

I recently was looking for a new site {the one I''m on is slow and offline too often}, so I headed over to one I''ve heard was pretty good. Started in, got to the legal section and, "geeze, this is long."

I read it {I''m just one of those people} and saw an interesting bit. It seemed that any and all information and media posted on their server became intellectual property that they protected. It got way to wordy {confusing and poorly written in an grammatical sense} right after, so I wasn''t sure if the property was something they''d defend for you against other''s ''borrowing'' your work, or if it actually became their legal property.

If it were me, I''d be pretty cautious about putting anything up that I might copyright or trademark.

Crosswind''s got none of that junk, and it''s very ''clean'' that way.

i use www.freedom2surf.net for free you get no adds and they allow the use of PHP and CGI and stuff... kinda slowish sometimes.... 11MB i think

they offer unlimited space, but their server is down rght now for repairs. i found them to be faster than virtualave, and the no banners feature is nice too.

I have had very good experiance with internettrash (www.internettrash.com) they give you 10 MB with no banner! and i think thier planning on having CGI support soon. the down side is that you cant upload .zip files, .exe files or tgz files. to get around this i had to put my files on another server.

what is this and why is it here and how dose it work?

I chose virtualave, but I may change it. Right now my site is at Piper's Games
