beginning with 3d
hey everyone
i''ve slowly started to learn opengl..now i am not interested at all in 2d stuff..is that bad? i mean i really dont feel like i have to write a 2d game first before i learn 3d..you know what i mean..again, is that bad? cuz personally, i find 3d much more interesting..anyways, if anyone has their 2 cents for me

There is nothing wrong with learning how to write 3d games first, they are just more complicated and challenging. I know you might want to jump right into openGL/DX, but, learning the math is important and will come up as an issue almost immediately after you begin coding.
You''ll progress from a simple application, to rotating a shape, to rotating a body, to realizing a camera system would be cool, and then maybe some skeletal animation, and perhaps projectiles flying across the screen (physics in 3d) etc. etc. etc. So make sure you have the math down, and if you do i just babbled for nothing!
