Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance...
Hi,
I feel compelled to ask this here, as it might not be appropriate on the other forums:
Does anyone know what 3d software was used for the graphics in this game?
I ask, ''cause I can''t imagine any of the popular apps around today as being capable of handling such incredibly smooth models, not even 3d Studio Max.
I just don''t get how they did it.
Anyone?

I thought the smoothness of the models just depended on the number of polys used??

Hm,
Are you guessing that 3dsmax was used or do you know it for a fact?
I''m not asking to sound like a pr*ck, I''m just curious.
If it was 3dsmax, then they must''ve used an obscene amount of polygons. That is, far more than I''ve seen in most popular games. I guess that''s the advantage of having tons of dough to spend of top-notch hardware/software, as Midway does, er-- did. I heard they''re going out of business, if it hasn''t happened already.

Make a sphere in Maya, Truespace or 3D Studio Max, or write it by hand with the same amount of polygons, and you get the same result. It''s the amount of polygons & the renderer in the game that makes things look smooth, it has nothing to do with the program used
IIRC, they used renderware
Out of business? Where''d you get that idea?

They used RenderWare Graphics, and I believe they used 3ds Max.
And I''ve seen great artwork produced by every major art package out there, including paper-and-pencil, so you should not be suprised that Max can do it. Besides, the tool is primarily designed around offline rendering, which certain requires more polygons than the vast majority of games today...
