Retro remakes!
If the topic isn''t to broad.

my main idea all came back to beginners keeping things simple.
nehe's site is definately not aimed at pro's, so it's my opinion that the contests shouldnt be either. a puzzle (or even retro-remake) contest would encourage people to keep things simple, yet really polish what they have up (hence the contest part). i hope nehe's future contests dont fall into the 'demo-scene' catagory.. there is plenty of that on the net already, and nehe's contests are one thing that makes his site stand out..

I don''t like a "retro-remake" contest because that''s all new programmers make anyway. Pong clones, Breakout clones, etc.

thats actually a cool idea.
"themed" contests are actually really cool.. even non-interactive ones such as the LOTR contest(s?).
however, my favorite contests in recent history was the duck tiles contest which i wasnt able to participate in (time mainly).


i''m still hung up on the whole puzzle contest thing though, because there are so many unexplored ideas out there... sure they''re all spin offs of another puzzle game somehow, but its good clean fun

I had this wierd idea - perhaps we could do a contest without a prize or something, run along side the TT contest - have a contest with an open ended theme. The only criteria is that nehe''s pets judge the contest. The whole idea is to catch their attention or something.

Games contest.....hmmmmmn

I think a game contest would be great, Im always working on games so it would be great for me.

Puzzle games too, thats even better, cause everyone is always creating complex first or third person games....=lots of work=no time.

I have to agree with all those in favor!

I just had a though of a contest that no-one else has done. How about NeHe spends a short while looking over the net for some completely free models, textures. Either generic, or (easier) relevant to a theme. Then, everyone has to use only those models, and only those textures. To allow a little variety, and so we don''t all get bored, the music would be up to the contestant, but that would make download sizes a lot smaller for the most part, and also give very interesting results.
