Hi. I have been messing around with 3D Studio Max in college for a while now, and am stuck with a problem. I can apply a texture and material to an object, but I would like to know hot to apply different textures to the different faces of the same object. Currently I can just apple the one texture to the whole object. Also is it possible to specify texture coordinates that a face will use. eg.. if I have 1 bitmap with many textures, can I tell a face to read this texture but use the data between x-y-z etc.. Thanks Giant
Look up material IDs in the help files. IDs allow different faces to be mapped to different parts of the texture. You can set them in the polygon sub-object mode. Also read about material channels (they allow you to apply multiple texture coordinates to one object. i.e. UVW map modifier). And try out the UVW unwrap modifier.

If the help files don''t help try looking for some tutorials on the web.
