HELP ME PLEASE!
hi
im a beginer at 3d programming and i program in directx 8.1. Currently i have a TNT2 and 550 mhz CPU (WHICH IS WAY TOO SLOW!!!) so i am looking to upgrade my computer, i know i am getting geforce 4 4200 ti thats for sure and my aim was to buy a new Celleron or AMD 1.7 ghz CPU. Will that new CPU be fast enough for 3d programming and for my Geforce 4?? and should i get a cellerion or AMD? how fast should the CPU be??
your help is greatly apreciated.
thanx
That should definitely be fast enough, I have a GeForce4 ti4200 also and I have a 1100 mhz processor and I havent had any problems yet.

If you are a beginner, I think your current gfx card should be enough. You are not going to do anything fancy, right? Unless you are reaching that part. In fact, I prefer your graphic card for some development purposes. However, if you use your computer to play games, well, you need a better one. It''s up to you.

If you really want to buy a new gfx card, you should buy ATI 9500Pro. It's much better than GeForce4 4200 Ti

All the "great taste" without the fat?
If you can afford a $3000 PC, the 3.26GHz P4s with Hyperthreading are pretty sick (the price tag includes a RAID level 0 twin striped HDD configuration to keep the system speed blazing). But if you''re like the rest of us, a Celeron is adequate. It may not be the fastest performer, but hardly do you actually need the fastest performer.
