what''s interpolation? (i''m a sophomore in high school, and they haven''t taught us that yet, lol, Accelerated Algebra II) bloodright.150m.com //For the latest on all of the IVGDA projects!
i found a few definitions...

something about an algorithm for finding the y value of 2 discreat points when given the x...

"How does one find the value of ‘y’ at any other value of ‘x’? Well, a continuous function may be used to represent the ‘n+1’ data values with passing through the ‘n+1’ points. Then one can find the value of y at any other value of x. This is called interpolation. Of course, if ''x'' falls outside the range of ''x'' for which the data is given, it is no longer interpolation but instead is called extrapolation."

I really dont get that...lol I also found one that said its a method for increasing the size of an image, but im sure the 1st one is what your looking for. I hope it helps a little.

thanks! that helps a lot, now I actually understand it, lol

it''s where you calculate (or "guess") the data in between two data....

If I move 5 meters in 5 seconds at a constant speed, how far will I move in 3 seconds?

What you know:
I go 5 meters in 5 seconds, that's 1 meter per second.

You can now use this data to interpolate how far I go in 3 seconds.
