Medieval City
Hey, for some odd reason I got bored and decided to make a few models and a large medieval(sp?) city. I've built a few models and drew an over-head map of my concept. I'm gonna make some more models as I go, like towers and other buildings... Here's some pics:

NOW REMEMBER... I'm not a pro, I haven't been doing this long, and this is only to pass some time. Some of the models don't look that great; I know. But they seem to look better in the environment that I'm placing them in. Anybody that could suggest something... More detail or something... please tell.
COOLNESS!
[EDIT: Okay, I fixed it I think. Copy and paste the links.]

Hmmm... Okay... does this site not support pics from geocities?

It''s called "hotlinking". You can''t directly link to geocities pictures.
Just type them out as text links, them people can copy&paste or drag them into the URL bar.

i had to get the urls manually, but the pics are pretty good, they definitely need more detail, it would be helpful if u did some research and be able to put in all the small details that make it look great. i think they are good starts, but u have to make them obious of what they are, if u showed me the archery range and barracks without telling me what they were id think they were a huge pig pen and a afgani house

I had a look at a few of the images and they look pretty good. I can imagine in a more complex scene they will work really well.
Am I right in assuming you are using Bryce to create the images? If so then one bit of advice - I found it hard to create decent objects using just the Bryce primitives - it''s possible but very time consuming (even for ''simple'' objects like castle walls). Instead I now use another 3D package (normally Truespace) to create meshes for more complex objects and then import them into Bryce.
I think I''m working on something similar to you - I''m coding a fantasy/medevial 3D turn-based strategy game and using Bryce to render the still images and cutscenes. A few Bryce rendered shots are available here ...

As you can probably see there are a few basic objects repeated several times to build up the scenes (sorry for the image quality but these are grabs from a compressed AVI).

Those are pretty nice...
Yes, you''re right. I am using Bryce for all of this. I downloaded the demo for Truespace 4... Might I ask what version you use and how long you''ve used it to get that nice of models?

I''m using either version 2 or 3 (sorry can''t remember off the top of my head - probably version 2 as it was a free version from at least a year ago).
For the time needed to create each model this depends a lot as some models (particularly castle walls) look right first time. With these it probably takes as little as 30 minutes to create the mesh and then another 10-20 minutes importing it into Bryce and getting the texturing right. For other models it takes much longer. For example I remember spending probably 10+ hours getting a stone bridge model right, partly because the dimensions had to be adjusted a lot for the model to ''fit'' into my graphics engine correctly, but also because the first attempts just didn''t seem right.
