quote: Personally, I feel that if it does what you want it to do and gives you the performance you need, it''s not cheating. Unless you''re developing professionally, game development is something we do for fun. If you''re just doing it for fun, there isn''t a right way or a wrong way as long as it works for you and doesn''t cause harm to someone''s system.

Well yea, hence the "quotes" around ''cheating''. I say use it if you want to; I just don''t like it when people show off their new RPG Maker-esque game like they programmed the whole thing. Maybe I''m just jealous

In any case, to goldchoco, this might be the best thing to go with right now. It''s not really practical to do graphics for awhile if you can only make "suck-ass text games in DOS " so RPG Maker might be worth a look if you want to concentrate on the design part. Do a search on RPG Maker on Google. I dunno if it''s legal (is RPG Maker freeware or what? I have no idea), but I downloaded a version a long time ago.

Thanks for the help all. I followed the rpg maker 2000 path, it sucks pretty badin conforming with my ideas, but what the hell, it was free!! Anyway, it turns out that Rpg maker 2000 is pirated material and some sort of ban was going on. I had to go through about 40 sites on google before I actually found a functioning download. But that''s beyond the point. I also got all the other freeware you all offered me, and they helped greatly.
